CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia today announced Judge Charles Lorensen has been selected to serve as the Court’s chief judge during 2025.
The Intermediate Court of Appeals is a three-judge appellate court created by the West Virginia Appellate Reorganization Act of 2021 (Senate Bill 275). It officially opened on July 1, 2022. The three judges currently serving on the Court are Chief Judge Lorensen, Judge Dan Greear, and Judge Ryan White.
The Court’s jurisdiction includes appeals of final orders or judgments in civil, family court, workers’ compensation, administrative and guardianship/conservatorship cases.
The Chief Judge is chosen by members of the Court and serves a one-year term. In addition to Chief Judge Lorensen’s designation for 2025, the judges have also designated Judge Greear to serve as chief judge in 2026, with Judge White serving as chief judge in 2027.
