BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Board of Directors for the Beckley Sanitary Board gained a new member on Tuesday as Kase Poling was approved to join as the board’s newest member.
The development came during Tuesday’s meeting of Beckley City Council, at which Poling’s appointment to the board was discussed as part of an agenda item to be presented during the meeting.
Poling was approached by city officials regarding his potential interest in the appointment according to City of Beckley Attorney William File. During Tuesday’s meeting, File indicated long-time board member for the Beckley Sanitary Board, John Sadowski intends to retire from his position, thus creating an opportunity for Poling’s recruitment to the board.
“We have John Sadowski, who has been the engineer serving on the sanitary board for a number of years. He has been a tremendous contributor to the Sanitary Board, and he is ready to retire from that position. So that is why we have checked to see and asked Kase Poling if he’d be interested in serving,” explained File. “He’s very interested in doing that. He is an engineer by trade, and he also is a professor at West Virginia University Tech. He’s very excited about this. He’s been attending meetings. I think he’s going to be a very good addition to the Sanitary Board, and Jeremiah [Johnson, General Manager of the Beckley Sanitary Board] is very much in favor of this appointment.”
Councilman At-Large, Cody Reedy concurred with File, making note of Poling’s enthusiasm and commitment to the area served by the board.
“I agree with Mr. File, I think Kase will be really good for this,” said Reedy. “He has a passion for the community and, like [Mr. File] said, he’s a professor at West Virginia Tech, and he’s shown interest. So I’m in agreement.”
The appointment of Kase Poling as a board member for the Beckley Sanitary Board was unanimously approved by members of Beckley City Council.
