PIPESTEM, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beloved West Virginia vocalist and America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. continues to reach new and significant milestones in his impressive career, as the Logan County native was inducted over the weekend into the West Virginia Hall of Fame.
The honor came on Saturday, December 14, 2024, during Murphy’s performance at Pipestem Resort State Park as part of his annual Home for the Holidays tour. Murphy is now in the company of former West Virginia Hall of Fame inductees such as Steve Harvey, Don Knotts, Booker T. Washington, Homer Hickam, Bill Withers, and more.
“I’m in that position now to where I can actually guide the youth in a positive way,” Murphy told LOOTPRESS in an interview leading up to his Pipestem performance. “I feel like my job with the blessing that I have is to guide them in the right direction.”
Since obtaining his significant platform as an entertainer, Murphy has exhibited time and time again a passion for helping those in need and for providing guidance to those just coming up in the industry. Along with his insistence on platforming performers from the Mountain State each year as part of his Home for the Holidays tour, Murphy also sits on the board of Children’s Home Society of West Virginia and has established the Landau’s Kids Joy Toy Drive, which provides toys to children in need up to the age of 18 across the Mountain State.
“Landau’s incredible journey from humble beginnings to national fame has inspired people around the world,” said West Virginia Parks member and Pipestem activities coordinator, Scott Hill. “Once a struggling car washer from Logan County, WV, he transformed his life by never giving up on his dream and pursing his passion for music. He made West Virginia proud and won America’s hearts with his soulful renditions of the classics from the Great American Songbook. Now, as a member of the West Virginia Hall of Fame, Landau’s legacy will continue to uplift and motivate others to dream big and persevere.”
