KEARNEYSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It was announced on Monday that West Virgina American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation have awarded a combined $15,000 in donated funds to three local charities in the Eastern Panhandle area.
The three charities in question, per an announcement from West Virginia American Water, are Meals on Wheels of Berkeley County, Main Street Martinsburg, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle. Through the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Strategic Impact Grant Program, each charity was awarded $5,000.
“I want to thank the American Water Charitable Foundation and West Virginia American Water family for your generous donation. Community partners who are willing to invest in the children in our community are invaluable to our mission,” says Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle. “You truly have made a difference for the children who walk through our doors each day.”
The selection of the three organizations, the American Water Charitable Foundation says, was based on the integral role of each in providing health and wellness services and the initiation of community sustainability efforts.
The funds were taken from State Strategic Impact grants, which come as part of the 2024 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program. This program emphasizes three “pillars of giving:” water, people, and communities.
“At West Virginia American Water, our mission is to deliver clean, safe, reliable and affordable drinking water and wastewater services while serving as a strong and impactful partner within our communities,” says West Virginia American Water President, Robert Burton. “We believe that our communities are safer and stronger when we all work together to see our local non-profits succeed.”
West Virginia American Water, collaboratively with the American Water Charitable Foundation, made over $259,000 in donations to charitable organizations through grants, scholarships, and general contributions in 2023.
