HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Louisiana and Marshall have clinched berths in the 2024 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Football Championship, set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Louisiana will make its conference-leading fifth championship game appearance, while Marshall has earned its first-ever spot in the title game.

Marshall Edges James Madison in Double Overtime
Marshall secured the Sun Belt East Division title with a thrilling 35-33 double-overtime win over James Madison.
The Thundering Herd rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit, using a 17-point third quarter to force overtime.
Marshall sealed the victory with a creative two-point conversion on a reverse pass after a touchdown by Tychaun Chapman.
The team now prepares for its first-ever Sun Belt Championship appearance.
Louisiana Claims West Division Title
Louisiana won the Sun Belt West Division with a 7-1 record in conference play, capping off the regular season with a 37-23 victory over ULM. The win marked the Ragin’ Cajuns’ fourth 10-win season in six years.
Running backs Zylan Perry and Bill Davis combined for 228 rushing yards and three touchdowns to power the offense.
Quarterback Chandler Fields contributed 188 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Kody Jackson led the defense with two interceptions.
