ORGAS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man is in custody following a domestic disturbance that escalated into allegations of kidnapping, domestic battery, and assault.
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, Trooper E.M. Shafer responded to a 911 call reporting a violent altercation on Knor Lane in the community of Orgas. A third-party caller informed Boone County Emergency Management that a man was seen assaulting a woman outside a camper and then dragging her back inside. The woman’s screams could reportedly be heard from within the camper.
Upon arriving at the scene, Trooper Shafer heard a female voice yelling “stop” and screaming for help. The officer detained a male suspect, identified as James Mitchell McKinney, for safety reasons.
Inside the camper, the officer encountered a woman who was bleeding from her mouth and appeared visibly distressed and crying. The woman identified herself as the victim and stated that Widney had struck her in the face and held her against her will.
The victim recounted how she had attempted to escape multiple times during the evening of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, after an argument escalated into physical violence. According to her statement, McKinney repeatedly struck her, preventing her from leaving. A neighbor eventually called 911 when the victim tried to flee again but was forced back inside the camper by McKinney.
Photographs taken at the scene documented visible injuries to the victim, including a knot on her forehead, scratches, and other bloodied areas on her face and mouth.
McKinney was arrested and charged with kidnapping, domestic battery, and domestic assault. She is in jail under a 100,00 dollar bond.
