HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ A man is charged after he attempted to attack a female employee at Harmony House, a place he was banned from.
On October 7, 2024, at approximately 2:33 p.m., police responded to a call at the Harmony House on 627 4th Avenue in Cabell County after a man, identified as Dennis Hughes, allegedly attempted to attack a female employee. Hughes, who was previously banned from the premises, was reported to have fled the scene before officers arrived.
While en route, dispatch confirmed that Hughes had an active warrant for battery issued on September 25, 2024, in Cabell County.
Upon arrival, Officer Joe McClanahan, the caller, informed authorities that Hughes had been blocking traffic in the street while screaming and dancing before allegedly attacking his director. Hughes, described as a white male with long blonde hair, wearing a gray shirt and jeans, was said to have fled the area.
During a search of the area, officers located Hughes in the parking lot of the Marathon Station on 603 5th Avenue. As officers approached and instructed Hughes to comply, a brief struggle ensued. Officers successfully restrained Hughes and placed him in handcuffs.
During the arrest, a search revealed a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue, which was broken during the struggle.
Hughes was taken into custody at approximately 2:43 p.m. and is facing charges related to the battery warrant and drug possession.
