POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A late-night call reporting possible gunfire led to the arrest of a Point Pleasant man on charges of attempted murder after a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a residence.
The incident occurred early Saturday, November 30, 2024, at approximately 12:19 a.m., when authorities were dispatched to a home on 24th Street in Point Pleasant.
Responding officers knocked on the door but received no response. Peering through a window, an officer observed a woman on her knees on the floor. Shortly afterward, a man, later identified as Jordan Armstrong, was seen walking near the woman, kneeling momentarily, and then retreating to a back room.
Armstrong eventually answered the door, claiming he had been asleep and was unaware of what had happened. He was immediately detained and placed in handcuffs.
A second individual, David Selby, who had called 911, was also detained.
Mason County EMS arrived on the scene to treat the victim, later identified as Amelia Wamsley, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Wamsley was transported to River’s Health ER for emergency treatment.
After securing the residence, Armstrong and Selby were transported to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. During the interviews, Selby provided a statement alleging that Armstrong was the individual who shot Wamsley.
Based on the investigation and witness testimony, Armstrong was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was subsequently transported to the Western Regional Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
The condition of the victim remains unclear at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have not released further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting.
