SMOOT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Greenbrier County man faces charges after burning down a couples camper because they would not take him to buy Meth.
According to a criminal complaint, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, an officer was dispatched to a disturbance in Smoot. When the officer arrived, he noted a camper on fire. The camper owners told the officer that Karl Legg got angry with them because they would not take him to buy Meth.
The victim’s told the officer that Legg came after the male victim with an ax handle and started striking him. The victim stated that he did get the ax handle from Mr. Legg and struck him with it. After the altercation, Mr. Legg then put a tire under the victim’s camper and set it on fire, which then set his camper on fire.
When the officer contacted Legg about the situation, he said he wanted to kill the victims because they would not move off his property.
Legg is charged with arson. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
