NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces a long list of charges after he tried to run his wife over with his car and tried to stab several deputies with a knife.
According to Nicholas County Deputies, on May 14, 2021, Matthew Dillion Clay attempted to strike his wife with a vehicle. Â When deputies arrived, they arrested the suspect and placed him in one of the deputies’ cars. The suspect busted out the back passenger window of the cruiser and exited the vehicle.
Three deputies were trying to get Clay to comply, but he pulled out a knife while handcuffed. Â At this point, Clay attempted to stab three deputies. Â They had to use pepper spray to get Clay under control, but he continued kicking, head-butting, and bite some of the deputies.
EMS evaluated the deputies on the scene.
Clay refused to provide fingerprints during processing.
Clay is charged with three counts of attempted malicious assault of a police officer, four counts of battery on a police officer, four counts of obstructing, domestic assault, destruction of property, and failure to fingerprint. Â He is currently in Central Regional Jail under a 40,000 dollar bond.
