LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A disturbance at Lincoln County Courthouse lands one man in jail.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on September 11, 2023, deputies responded to the Lincoln County Courthouse after a suspect, Jay Smith, of Hurricane, yelled at employees at the courthouse and caused a scene.
The magistrate on duty advised the deputy that she witnessed Smith bump the security doorman in the chest. Other employees also saw the actions of Smith.
Smith would not answer the deputy’s questions and attempted to leave. Smith was arrested and charged with obstructing, battery, and willful disruption of government process. He is currently out on bond.
