POWELLTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Fayette County man is facing multiple charges after a violent altercation with his parents on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at a home on Armstrong Creek Road.
According to a report from the West Virginia State Police, troopers were dispatched around 11:49 a.m. following a 911 call from a nearby resident who reported hearing a man and woman screaming that “their son was beating them up” and calling for help.
Upon arrival, troopers spoke with David Ewing Sr., who reported that his son, David H. Ewing III, had physically attacked him during an outburst. Ewing Sr. told officers that his son, who has schizophrenia, had not been taking his medication and had been acting erratically for several days.
That morning, the younger Ewing reportedly began screaming in the road, then entered the home and started throwing objects inside. When his father attempted to intervene, Ewing III allegedly tackled him outside the house and punched him multiple times in the face. Ewing’s mother tried to stop the assault and called 911. During the chaos, Ewing III allegedly caused his mother to fall before jumping headfirst out of a back bedroom window in an attempt to flee.
Troopers noted that David Ewing Sr. sustained visible injuries, including hematomas to the head and jaw, consistent with blunt force trauma.
Ewing III was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. After confirming that he had two prior domestic battery convictions from 2020 and 2024, the Fayette County prosecutor approved charges.
David H. Ewing III is now charged with:
-
Domestic Battery – Third Offense
-
Two Counts of Domestic Assault
