MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Saturday, February 26th, 2023, at approximately 1:20 AM, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suspicious event at the 24/7 Storage facility located on Smithtown Road.
Richard Howard Clemons, 47 years of age, of Arlington, VA., initially called 911 and reported that he thought someone was in the building unlawfully and disconnected his phone call with 911.
While deputies were en route, Clemons called 911 again and stated that he had stabbed someone.
Once deputies arrived on the scene, they encountered Clemons who disclosed to the Deputies that he had stabbed a person that was inside the building.
Deputies conducted a search of the building and found the victim, Albert Nyambati Ondieki, 32 years of age, of Morgantown with five stab wounds to the head and chest areas. The victim was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wounds. His condition is unknown at this time.
Clemons and Ondieki both rented storage space at this location and were both staying in their respective units for that evening. Clemons was arrested for Attempted Murder of Ondieki, who was in his own storage unit at the time of the attack.
Clemons was arraigned at Monongalia County Magistrate Court where the bond was set at $100,000.00 cash or surety bond. Clemons is currently in North Central Regional Jail.
Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Mon EMS, Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department and Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire Department.
