BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic dispute in Bluefield escalated into a dramatic incident on Saturday morning, leading to the arrest of a man who allegedly assaulted his partner and damaged her property.
According to a police report, officers responded to a call at approximately 8:17 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming for help outside her home on West Cumberland Road. Patrolmen R.L. Hamm and K.S. Cantrell arrived at the scene, where they found a female victim visibly distressed and emotional. She informed officers that her boyfriend, Issac Chalender, had fled from her home following an argument that had turned violent.
The victim told police that Chalender had shown up at her home wanting to talk. She reluctantly allowed him inside after he allegedly forced the door open by blocking it with his foot. According to the female victim, a heated argument ensued during which Chalender grew angry and physically assaulted her, pushing her into a wall and causing visible bruising and swelling on her chest.
The situation reportedly escalated further when Chalender produced a knife and threatened her, saying, “I’m going to kill you.” Fearing for her safety, she ran into her bedroom, stating her intent to call the police. At this point, Chalender allegedly left the house, shattering three windows from outside in the process.
The victim reported that Chalender also threw a jar of mayonnaise and candles at her during the altercation, one of which struck her left arm. Officers noted visible mayonnaise splatters on the walls as evidence of the incident. With her phone dead, she ran outside to call for help, and a neighbor contacted 911 on her behalf.
Officers located Chalender nearby and detained him. He was subsequently taken to the Bluefield Police Department for processing before being transported to the Mercer County Magistrate Court for arraignment.
Issac Chalender now faces charges of Domestic Assault, Domestic Battery, Destruction of Property, and Brandishing a Deadly Weapon.
