BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bluefield shopping center, the Mercer Mall on Tuesday confirmed rumors of the shutdown of one of its longtime stores.
Word spread on social media Monday that entertainment retail chain, FYE (For Your Entertainment) would be shutting down operations at their Mercer Mall location. Suspicion was further provoked by apparent clearance sales announced at the location.
The Mercer Mall confirmed the impending closure through their social media page, but making certain to confirm that the mall as a whole would remain operational in spite of additional speculation of a mall-wide shutdown.
“FYE has decided to close their doors. We have enjoyed and appreciated the years of business provided by FYE,” read a statement.
Along with the confirmation of FYE’s closure, it was also indicated that Golden Ticket Cinemas would be facilitating construction at the mall theaters in the near future and would be announcing a grand opening sooner than later.
An additional development was confirmed through the statement as well, that of the planned arrival of a new mall tenant that has signed a lease and is expected to, “begin construction on multiple spaces.” This tenant, according to the statement, will be revealed next week.
