RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Friday, October 25, 2024, a parent, identified as Justina Lacy, was arrested following an altercation with school staff at Park Middle School in Beckley.
Cpl. J.W. Legursky, a School Resource Officer, responded to the incident, which began around 8:00 a.m. when Lacy arrived on campus to retrieve her suspended child.
Upon entering the school, Lacy allegedly launched into a loud verbal outburst directed at the school staff. Dr. Harris, the school principal, reportedly asked Lacy and her child to leave multiple times, but both refused. Officer Legursky then escorted Lacy toward the exit, during which she repeatedly instructed him not to touch her. Once at the doors, both Lacy and her daughter reportedly resisted leaving, leading to a physical altercation where Lacy allegedly struck Officer Legursky.
Once outside, Lacy continued to pace and loudly curse at staff. After a brief period, Officer Legursky informed her she was under arrest, but she attempted to flee. During the ensuing scuffle, her daughter reportedly intervened, attempting to prevent the officer from apprehending Lacy. Eventually, Officer Legursky was able to restrain Lacy, who was taken into custody and processed at the Beckley Police Department.
Lacy is facing the following charges: fleeing, obstructing an officer, battery on a police officer, and disorderly conduct. She is currently out on bond.
