LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – New River Community and Technical College in partnership with GEAR UP SWV, is proud to present the “Learning Beyond the Classroom” event, offering students from Wyoming County an exciting opportunity to explore West Virginia history in a unique setting.
On March 28, 2024, with the support of New River CTC and GEAR UP SWV, provided approximately 48 eighth grade students from Oceana Middle School the chance to participate in the Bunker Tour and History Tour at The Greenbrier Resort Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, receiving an immersive educational experience outside of the traditional classroom setting.
“The ‘Learning Beyond the Classroom’ event was designed to enrich the educational experiences of students from Oceana Middle School by offering them the opportunity to learn about West Virginia history in a hands-on and engaging way,” said Tammy Mills, New River CTC Gear Up Campus Event Coordinator and Community Outreach.
The event was free of charge for GEAR UP SWV students, making it accessible to all participated.
