PINEVILLE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Today, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department swore in its new Sheriff and Chief Deputy.
Outgoing Chief Deputy Bradley Ellison was sworn in as Sheriff. Ellison ran uncontested in Wyoming County for Sheriff in the general election.
In his search for Chief Deputy, Ellison made it clear that he was looking for someone who could help him lead his relatively young department.
Captain Don Cook, who has worked with the Drug Task Force for nearly two decades, was named as the new Chief Deputy.
Ellison expressed his thoughts on Cook filling his former position.
“Our biggest problem that most people would tell you is the drug problem in the country, which is probably the same problem everywhere else. So, I wanted to pick a guy that has 16 years in the Drug Task Force, that knows what to look for and can train our younger deputies, which we have a lot of right now.”
Both Ellison and Cook will assume their positions on Jan. 1.
