SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – According to a release from officials with the Nicholas County Fair, the fair has been officially dissolved and will no longer continue.
Officials say after much consideration, a lack of ample members and volunteers, and a very serious illness, the Nicholas County Fair has been dissolved effective immediately. Therefore, there will not be a 2023 Nicholas County Fair in the future.
The Nicholas County Fair has been in operation for 97 years.
The Nicholas County Fair Board plans to use the remaining funds and start a Foundation that will reward a senior from Nicholas County High School and a senior from Richwood High School with a scholarship in the name of the Nicholas County Fair each year for years to come.
It will be named The Nicholas County Fair Memorial Scholarship to keep the name and memory of the Fair alive for a while.
“We, the Nicholas County Fair Board would like to thank the many, many families and friends that have attended the Fair in the last 97 years. It has been an amazing and sometimes very hard ride. But as with all carnival rides, at some point, it must end and you have to exit the ride. It is, sadly our time to exit the ride,” the Fair Board said in a statement.
