FAIRMONT, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ Novelis, a leading producer of aluminum products, has announced it will close its Fairmont facility as part of a company-wide consolidation effort.
The closure will take effect on June 30, 2025, affecting 189 workers.
In a statement, a Novelis spokesperson said the decision was made to โsimplify operations and streamline our portfolioโ as part of the companyโs long-term growth strategy.
โOur workforce is deeply valued for their hard work and decades of dedication, and weโre committed to handling their transition with the utmost respect and care,โ the statement read.
The company noted that while jobs are being lost in Fairmont, more than 300 new positions are being created across its North American operations.
Novelis said it is working with affected employees to explore job opportunities within the company.
Novelis also expressed gratitude to the Fairmont community and the state of West Virginia for their support over the years.
The Fairmont facility primarily produces aluminum products for the automotive and heating and cooling industries.
