SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Community members and officials with the City of Summersville came together last week for a ceremony breaking ground on a new Summersville Recreational Complex.
Located at Quinn Way, the complex will feature a variety of activities and recreational options for local residents. Among the amenities planned to be provided by way of the new facility are hiking and biking trails, soccer, softball, and baseball fields, basketball and pickleball courts, a dog park, a playground area and more.
A number of speakers were on-hand during last week’s ceremony to provide comments on the development, including representative from the offices of U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, Alex Hewitt, who offered remarks from Senator Manchin in acknowledgement of the groundbreaking.
“The development of the Summersville Recreational Complex is sure to be in line with our West Virginia-strong values, to live fully, wholesome, and with great passion,” said Hewitt on behalf of the Senator. “Through projects such as this, we uphold our powerful neighborhood bonds and create new economic improvements for our beloved home state. This sports complex will undoubtedly provide a wealth of wonderful new opportunities for residents and visitors alike. From soccer games to hiking trails, it will be a go-to destination for recreation adventures in the surrounding area. I’m happy to lend my voice of support for this wonderful addition to the region.”
As design and construction proceedings get underway for the recreational complex and the 128-acre property upon which it will be erected, the initial stages will be led with an emphasis on mountain bike trails and a full soccer complex with which the city will be working alongside the Thrasher construction group.
