WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A two-vehicle collision on Staunton Turnpike resulted in one fatality and two injuries on the evening of November 28, 2024.
Deputies from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, along with Eastwood and Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Departments and Camden Clark Ambulance Service, responded to the scene at approximately 7:08 p.m.
The crash occurred in the 11,700 block of Staunton Turnpike.
According to investigators, a 1978 Ford Bronco, driven by Ernest Vandal with passenger Tammy Vandal, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2010 Ford Escape driven by David P. Butcher.
Butcher was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both Ernest and Tammy Vandal sustained injuries and were transported to Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment.
The Wood County Crash Team continues to investigate the incident.
