MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Police in West Virginia are investigating after one man was found deceased in a burning vehicle.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday, deputies were called to the scene at River Road and Lower Hildebrand Road, where witnesses reported a truck fully engulfed in flames.
The truck, a 2003 Ford F150 pickup, was found in a ditch off the roadway when first responders arrived.
The River Road Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze, only to discover a deceased male inside the vehicle.
The victim’s body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Charleston for an autopsy and identification.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, initial investigations suggest the incident may have been a single-vehicle accident.
