SAINT ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An unidentified individual was struck by a moving train Monday afternoon in Kanawha county.
The Saint Albans Fire Department reports that, at 12:12pm on Monday, November 25, 2024, members of the SAFD as well as Kanawha County EMS personnel were dispatched with regard to an individual having been struck by a train.
The victim involved in the incident was discovered by authorities near the Walnut St. Crossing. All railway traffic was promptly brought to a halt until such a time as the victim could be safely removed from the scene.
Responders report that the victim was alert during a patient assessment and was transported from the scene to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
The Saint Albans Fire Department issued in reminder in the wake of the incident reiterating the inherent safety risks associated with lingering on or around railroad tracks.
“As a reminder the RR is not for public use and is protected private property,” read the statement. “Please avoid walking on the tracks for your own safety!”
No indication has been given regarding the initial nature of the accident, and the condition of the victim involved since departing the scene of the accident is unclear at the time of writing.
