Greater Beckley Christian 78, Webster County 72
Upper Glade – Regional co-final games played at Webster County have not ended well for Greater Beckley Christian.
That was not the case Wednesday when the two teams clashed again in the Region 3 co-final game with a trip to the Boys State Basketball Tournament next week on the line.
Playing only five players all night, Greater Beckley shook off the nightmares from previous trips to Upper Glade with a 78-72 win over the Highlanders.
Every Crusader that played scored in double digits led by senior Kaden Smallwood with 22 points. Kendrick Wilson and Michael Judy added 17 points apiece, while Sean-David Kadjo had 12 and John Rose scored 10.
Rye Gadd led all scorers with 41 points on the night and Riley Clevenger scored 11 for Webster County.
Greater Beckley will be the No. 7 seed in the Class A division and will open quarterfinal action against defending state champion Man, Tuesday at 1 p.m.
