James Monroe 55, Greater Beckley Christian 39
Lindside – Two-time Class A defending state champion James Monroe is one game away from heading back to Charleston to defend its title.
Friday night at Bluefield State University, the Mavericks topped Greater Beckley Christian to win the Class A Region 3, Section 1 title.
James Monroe will now host Greenbrier West in the Region 3 co-final Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a berth in the state tournament.
Ryan Cole led the Mavs with 19, followed by Brady Baker with 14 points and Layton Dowdy scored 11.
Freshman Keegan Davidson paced the Crusaders with 18 points and Aaron Hall scored eight.
Greater Beckley will travel to Upper Glade Tuesday to play Webster County in the other Region 3 co-final game.

Upper Glade – Webster County outscored Greenbrier West 16-1 in the first quarter and cruised past the Cavaliers 68-37 Friday to win the Class A Region 3, Section 2 title.
The Highlanders will now host Greater Beckley Christian in the Region 3 co-final game for a berth in the state tournament.
Riley Clevenger scored 25 points for Webster who knocked down 10 long balls on the night. Rayden Triplett added 14 points and Ashton Moll scored 13.
Tanner Hagy had 14 for West who will head to Lindside in the other Region 3 co-final clash with two-time defending state champion James Monroe.
