The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the first week of the prep football season. Voting will close Monday at 4 P.M. and be announced on the Lootpress Sports Lowdown show which can be seen here.
The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. Please read that sentence again. The poll determines the Community Choice winner and is used in the event of a tiebreaker. It DOES NOT determine the overall Player of the Week winner. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
The top overall vote getter will advance to our Community Choice poll at the end of the regular season where the winner of that poll will receive a $500 scholarship.
In order for a player to be eligible or nominated, the stat keeper or coach must report all scores and statistics. Scores can be reported to Tylerjackson@lootpress.com and Rustyudy@lootpress.com.
- Daniel Jennings, Princeton – Jennings notched two sacks, recovered a fumble and rushed three times for 24 yards and a touchdown in a 41-12 win over Capital.
- Tyson Adkins, Summers County – Adkins rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns, guiding Summers County to a 15-7 win at PikeView.
- Kadien Vance, Westside – Vance completed 9 of 10 passes for 200 yards and five touchdowns, adding 64 yards rushing and a pair of scores with his legs in a 59-6 win over Wyoming East.
- Devin Richardson, Oak Hill – Richardson threw for 145 yards, adding 85 more and a score with his legs as Oak Hill claimed a 28-15 win at Nicholas County.
- AJ Thomas, Beckley – Thomas intercepted two passes as Beckley’s defense withstood 20 red zone plays, yielding just three points in aÂ
