Petersburg – Greenbrier West fell behind early, but its comeback bid came up just short against Class A No. 9 Petersburg Friday night on the road.
The Vikings raced out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter before the Cavaliers rallied to trail by only two points at the break, 28-26.
Greenbrier West stayed within one score most of the second half before Petersburg pulled away with 2:22 remaining in the contest for the win.
Greenbrier West falls to 4-4 and faces another tough task next Friday when it hosts Class A No. 7 Sherman.
