NEWTOWN – Class AA No. 2 Herbert Hoover picked off four passes in a 57-0 victory over Mingo Central.
Quarterback Dane Hatfield rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two more. Hatfield scored on runs of 36, 7 and 5 yards and threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Harper and a 13-yard touchdown pass to his brother Devin Hatfield. Running back Hunter Bartley rushed for two touchdowns, his 16th and 17th touchdowns of the season.
Devin Hatfield intercepted two passes, his seventh and eighth interceptions of the season, returning one for a 40-yard touchdown.
Mingo Central senior running back Norman Kennedy rushed for 117 yards on 21 carries in the loss.
Herbert Hoover, who improves to 8-0, led 27-0 at halftime and was never challenged. The Huskies will host Class AA No. 1 Poca next week.
Mingo Central, drops to 3-5 and will travel to Chapmanville next week.
