Delaney Buckland recorded a shutout with 10 strikeouts and Emma Lilly knocked in three runs to lead Independence past county rival Liberty 9-0 Tuesday in six innings.
Independence collected 12 hits with half of them coming as two-baggers. Ali Hypes smacked a pair of doubles, while Buckland, Lilly, Avorie Varney and Kassidy Bradbury had one each.
Hypes had a total of three hits on the day and Lilly had two. Harmony Mills also had a pair of base knocks for the Patriots.
Keandra Spurlock had two hits for the Raiders, including a triple, while Kacie Fraley hit a double.
Beckley 8, Oak Hill 6
The Flying Eagles built a six-run lead and fought off a late comeback from the Red Devils to take an 8-6 win Tuesday.
Brooklyn Bird led Beckley with two RBI, while Aubrey Smallwood, Natalia Meade and Jasmine Daubert each knocked in a run.
Halee Jones had two hits for the Red Devils, while Sadie Branch hit a double and Olivia Honaker had an RBI.
Both teams combined for eight errors and only three total runs were earned in the contest.
Greenbrier West 3, Nicholas County 2
Summersville โ Greenbrier West overcame five errors Tuesday to pick up a 3-2 win over Nicholas County in Summersville.
Preslee Treadway led the charge with two hits including a home run for the Cavs.
Brilee Redden earned the win for West with 10 strikeouts, scattering three hits.
Wyoming East 13, Westside 0
Clear Fork โ Wyoming East freshman Paytin Brehm tossed a no-hitter Tuesday as the Lady Warriors beat county foe Westside 13-0 in Clear Fork.
Emma Simpson led the charge for East at the plate, collecting three hits and driving in two runs in the win.
Kayley Bane and Cadee Blackburn notched two hits each in the win with Blackburn driving in a pair of runs.
