OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Park Service (NPS) will host a public meeting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to discuss the Proposed Demolition of Historic Structures Environmental Assessment (EA) for the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
The meeting will take place at the New River Convention Center in Oak Hill, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The NPS will present three alternatives for managing 19 historic structures and one non-historic addition that are under consideration for demolition.
The options include a “No Action” alternative, complete demolition, or partial demolition with the preservation of select buildings that may have reuse potential.

The public will have the opportunity to comment on the proposed plans, with each speaker limited to five minutes.
The EA is open for public comment from October 7 to November 8, 2024, with comments accepted online.
