BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Raleigh County Commission is set to assemble on Friday morning for a Special Meeting session at which the commission is expected to accept the resignation of Prosecuting Attorney for Raleigh County, Ben Hatfield.
Scheduled for 8:00am on Friday, November 1, 2024, the session will adhere to a brief agenda comprising primary new business.
Agenda items include consideration of the acceptance of the resignation of the Prosecuting Attorney and consideration of the appointment of a Prosecuting Attorney to finish the term.
Item 2.2 of the meeting agenda, which was released on Wednesday by Raleigh County Administrator Jay Quesenberry, consideration of the appointment of a Prosecuting Attorney to finish the term, refers to the unfinished term left by Hatfield upon his recent resignation in the face of allegations of professional misconduct.
Attorney Tom Truman has taken the lead in Hatfield’s absence in the ongoing case of Natalie Cochran and partook in an appointment ceremony on Monday with Raleigh County Circuit Judge, Andrew Dimlich.
The Raleigh County Commission is scheduled to meet for its next Regular Meeting session, the first for the month of November, at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the 116 1/2 N. Heber Street location of the Raleigh County Commission Chamber.
