SHADY SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Shady Spring High School has announced that the Shady Spring High Band has been named the overall winner of the 2023-2024 WVSSAC Academic Achievement Award.
The distinction is bestowed upon those who meet established WVSSAC criteria, including the exhibiting of exceptional grade point average and attendance records.
In addition to recognition of the band as a whole by the WVSSAC, band member David Hegele was chosen as the top individual male award recipient in the entire band category.
“Shady Spring High School is thrilled to announced that our band has been named the 2023-2024 overall winner of the WVSSAC Academic Achievement Award,” the school said of the accomplishment in a statement on Monday. “This honor is based on the band’s exceptional GPA and attendance record, and we are incredibly proud of their success.”
All recipients of the WVSSAC Academic Achievement Award will be recognized and celebrated during a banquet set to take place the Thursday prior to the State Football Championship weekend.
The banquet will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel, located at 200 Lee St. E. in Charleston.
