CHARLESTON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Following the defeat of the Winfield Generals, the Shady Spring Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball Team has taken home the semifinals win.
The Tigers, who won their semifinals game 68-54, are now moving to the championship game in the 2021 WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Championship – Class AAA Tournament.
A large portion of the win was due to the Tiger’s defense, holding the Generals back at the half-court line. They ended the first half by forcing nine turnovers, seven of which came from steals.
The Tigers have had an exceptional season thus far, winning their first sectional title in 20 years and their first regional championship in 27 years. Now, the team can add their first state tournament game win in school history and their first appearance at a championship game to the list.
The Tigers will play the Wheeling Central Knights tomorrow, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Charleston Coliseum. Wheeling defeated Hampshire 61-49 in their semi-final game.
