CHARLESTON, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) โ Following the defeat of the Hoover Huskies, the Shady Spring Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball Team has taken home the quarterfinals win and are one step closer to playing in the 2021 WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Championship โ Class AAA Tournament. The Tigers won 87-45.
This is now the first state tournament the Tigers have entered since 1994, and the first semi-finals theyโve taken part in in the schoolโs history.
The Huskies were at a severe disadvantage, due to having only two of their regular starters playing in this morningโs game.
Shady, however, had a phenomenal game, getting close to several record breaks in the Class AAA tournamentโs history. One of these near records was for the teamโs guard Todd Duncan, who was one steal away from beating the number one record of nine steals in a single game.
The Tigers will be playing the Winfield Generals this Saturday, May 7, at 11:15 a.m. at the Charleston Coliseum. Winfield defeated Fairmont in their own quarterfinal game 49-45.
