BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple shoppers continue to flock to the Beckley Big Lots following the news of permanent closure.
The store was filled with customers taking advantage of closing sales with advertised discounts of up to 25% off the entire store.
Signs have now been placed at the front of the store stating the store is closing, and that nothing will be “held back” during the closure sales.
Customers have experienced long checkout lines at the store throughout the day on Thursday due to the volume of shoppers.
Carolyn Tincher of Oak Hill tells LOOTPRESS that she has been shopping at Big Lots for years and is sad to see the store close.
“It saddens me to see a store I have enjoyed shopping at for years close its doors. I have found a lot of good buys at the Beckley and Oak Hill store,” Tincher said. “I am saddened for the employees affected by this as well.”
Sources tell LOOTPRESS that employees have not been informed of the exact date of the closure as litigation is still ongoing.
Big Lots has decided to liquidate all of its stores after a deal with a buyer fell through.
In 2024, the chain shuttered hundreds of its locations and subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year, resulting in the transfer of ownership of its stores and operations to the private equity firm Nexus Capital Management.
