Coal City – Kaylen Parks hit a grand slam, her 11th home run of the season, as Independence defeated James Monroe 15-0 Friday night in Coal City.
Alli Hypes, Kendall Martin and Destiny Blankenship all had multi-hit games for the Lady Patriots in the win. Hypes smashed a double and added four RBIs while Martin had a double and a triple. Blankenship had a triple and two RBIs.
Indy improves to 15-11 and will host regional foe Westside on Monday.

Coal City – Delaney Buckland and Alli Hypes combined to throw a no-hitter in a 15-0 win over Liberty Thursday night in Coal City.
Buckland was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs while Kaylen Parks added a triple and an RBI. Sarah Bragg collected two hits as well for the Lady Patriots, picking up 3 RBIs in the process.
