SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Sunny skies contrasted with the cool air on Saturday afternoon as the Town of Sophia hosted its annual Christmas Parade.
Community members lined the streets to take in the festive procession which featured local businesses and organizations from throughout the Raleigh County area.
Among those who participated in Saturday’s event were the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, the Raleigh County Family Support Center, RCCAA, and many others.
Classic characters such as The Grinch and Frosty the Snowman also made their way out for the weekend holiday celebration.
Little ones delighted in collecting sweet treats from the passing floats and vehicles, and bringing up the rear in the procession was none other than Santa Claus himself, who made a special appearance in town for the Annual Christmas Parade event.
True to the spirit of the holiday season, Santa stuck around to mingle and pose for photos with members of the Sophia community.
