BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man has been arrested following a fire that broke out on October 20 on Crestview Drive in Beckley.
The home was that of former West Virginia Governor Hulett C. Smith.
David W. Cole, 30, of Beckley, was taken into custody by officers from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Cole faces charges of First Degree Arson and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
Cole is also an employee at Southern Regional Jail.
Cole is currently being held in the Southern Regional Jail as he awaits arraignment.
Authorities have indicated that they expect to make an additional arrest in connection with the fire in the coming days.
