BARBOURSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia State Police capture a Kentucky jail escapee.
At around 11:00 am on June 24, 2024, the Huntington Detachment Troopers received a tip from the Prestonsburg (KY) PD that Thomas Price, a 37-year-old jail escapee from Floyd County, was spotted at the Best Western near I-64 in Barbourville.
Troopers and WVSP K-9 units rushed to the location to capture the suspect, but he had already left the hotel on foot.
Later that same day, around 6:45 pm, Sgt. S.N. Swope received updated information from Prestonsburg PD suggesting that the suspect might be in the Big Lots Shopping Plaza in Barboursville.
Troopers from the Huntington Detachment, Cabell County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Barboursville PD units promptly responded to the area and successfully apprehended the suspect without any trouble.
The fugitive was arraigned and placed in the Western Regional Jail awaiting extradition.
