OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A stolen vehicle investigation in Fayette County on January 11, 2025, resulted in the arrest of Casey Workman, who now faces charges of burglary and resisting arrest.
The incident began at approximately 6:37 a.m. when a red Chevrolet S10, bearing West Virginia license plate N28647A, was reported stolen from 40 Center Street in Oak Hill. The vehicle’s owner alerted the Oak Hill Police Department, and the Fayette County 911 Center entered the stolen truck into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.
Later that day, at approximately 1:01 p.m., authorities were notified that the stolen Chevrolet S10 was found abandoned on Mountain Top Lane, just outside Fayetteville city limits. Upon arrival, an officer confirmed the vehicle matched the earlier report.
Footprints Lead to a Suspect
Fresh footprints in the snow led from the driver’s side of the truck to the back door of a nearby residence. The officer knocked on the door but received no response. Observing no other footprints around the residence, the officer identified the homeowner and contacted him at another location.
He confirmed that no one had permission to be on his property and provided the officer with the door code, granting permission for authorities to enter the residence.
Troopers Wood, Massile, and Stewart joined the officer in searching the property. After announcing their presence multiple times without response, they discovered a man hiding in a back bedroom.
Arrest and Resistance
The suspect, identified as Casey Workman, resisted officers’ commands to show his hands and comply with the arrest. Following a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue and handcuff him. During the arrest, the stolen truck’s keys were found on Workman’s person.
When contacted by phone, the homeowner stated that he did not know Workman and confirmed that Workman did not have permission to enter the property. He pressed charges of burglary against the suspect.
Workman is now facing charges of burglary, vehicle theft, and resisting arrest. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
