HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 4/22/25 7:09 PM: Following executive session during its regular meeting on Tuesday evening, the Summers County Board of Education ratified Interim Superintendent Dr. Linda Knott’s recommendation to place Summers County High School Head Baseball Coach Odie Gibson on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The ratification was approved on a 5-0 vote.
No discussion was made by the superintendent or board members regarding the matter, and as of 7:09 PM, the meeting is still underway.

ORIGINAL STORY 4/18/25 1:47 PM: Summers County High School baseball head coach Odie Gibson has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
Gibson was placed on administrative leave on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, following an incident that occurred during a baseball game at Summers County High School on Monday.
Seth Snavely has alleged that his 15-year-old son was assaulted by Gibson during the game stating “[Gibson] grabbed him by the shirt up near his chest and shoulder, twisted his clothing and pulled my son to him in an aggressive manner as if he was going to beat him up.”
Snavely told LOOTPRESS that the incident occurred in full view of Summers County High School Principal Dr. Kevin Green and Board of Education President Greg Angell.
Summers County Schools Interim Superintendent Linda Knott confirmed to LOOTPRESS on Thursday that an investigation is ongoing.
According to the Summers County Board of Education meeting agenda for Tuesday, April 22, the superintendent is recommending that the board ratify the placement of employee, Odie Gibson, on paid administrative leave, effective April 16, 2025, pending the outcome of the investigation.
