BOLT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A deputy with the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office was injured, and a suspect was fatally shot during a confrontation Friday morning in Breckenridge Village.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:00 a.m. on November 29, reporting a mentally disturbed individual armed with a gun.
Upon arriving at the residence, the first responding deputy was fired upon and sustained a gunshot wound.
The deputy returned fire, striking the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The incident remains under investigation by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the West Virginia State Police.
The names of those involved are being withheld to allow for family notifications.
