MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Amtrak ridership in West Virginia reached a total of 31,943 passengers during Fiscal Year 2023, with trains serving ten stations across the state.
Amtrak operates up to four trains per day in West Virginia, including the long-distance Capitol Limited and Cardinal routes, which connect residents to major cities like Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York.
The Capitol Limited runs daily through the Eastern Panhandle and the Cardinal runs three days a week through Southern West Virginia and the Kanawha Valley.
Martinsburg recorded the highest ridership in the state, with 6,948 passengers, followed by Charleston with 6,352 passengers, and Harpers Ferry with 6,032 passengers.
These stations serve as key rail transit points for travelers in the region.
In contrast, Montgomery had the lowest ridership, with only 266 passengers throughout the year. This makes it the least-used Amtrak station in West Virginia.
