BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men have been arrested after graffitiing a local business in Mercer County.
According to a criminal complaint, on March 3, 2023, while on patrol in Bluefield Mercer County, West Virginia, patrolman S.D. Copenhaver received a call in reference to a destruction of property.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke to an associate who stated two individuals had gone into the men’s bathroom and spray-painted the walls and ceiling with graffiti. Upon entering the restroom, the officer observed three walls and the ceiling of the men’s stall.
Upon watching viewing video surveillance, police observed the two suspects. Both individuals left Tractor Supply and walked into Gabe’s next door and straight to the restroom.
After approximately 5 minutes, the two suspects exited the bathroom, went outside, and walked towards Goodwill.
Officers then received a call regarding the two suspects stating that the two individuals matching the description of the two were walking through yards in the area of Bluemont Ave, which is just west of Gabes and Tractor Supply. Police then went searching for the two individuals.
Upon driving in that direction, officers observed an individual matching the description of one of the suspects running behind another local business on the corner of Cumberland Road and Grassy Branch Road in Mercer County.
The suspect then started running as officers pulled up, and officers then pursued the suspect on foot. As one officer went to reach for the suspect, he swung his arm and hit a patrolman with an open hand in the face and had run into the back of another patrolman’s police cruiser creating a big dent in the passenger quarter panel.
During this time the suspect was being given orders to stop resisting and to place his hands behind his back, he did not comply with any orders given. At that time, officers were able to take the suspect to the ground with as least force as possible. After detaining the suspect officers found a firearm, later identified as a B pistol, and a taser which was located in his front hoodie pocket.
After detaining the first suspect later identified as Dylon Bice, police observed the second suspect walking around the patio of the nearby Econolodge. At that time, they had run across the street and detained that suspect, later identified as Camden Oney without incident.
Both suspects were then transported to the Bluefield City Jail for processing. Oney remains in Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond. Bice is currently out on bond.
