BEECHWOOD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men have been arrested on drug charges out of Wyoming County.
According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department (WCSO), on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle for the traffic offense of speeding in the Beechwood area of Wyoming County.
Upon the deputy’s attempts to stop the vehicle, the vehicle attempted to flee a short distance but ultimately crashed.
Upon initial investigation, approximately $14,000.00 worth of controlled substances were recovered and seized from the crash including 72 Grams of Fentanyl, 19 Grams of Crack Cocaine, 36 Neurontin Pills as well as other substances, and multiple firearms.
On Thursday, November 2, 2023, Billy Ray Scott Jr. was arrested in the Princeton area of Mercer County as a direct result of the above-stated investigation and was booked for several felony drugs, weapons, and parole violation charges.
During the apprehension process of Billy Ray Scott Jr., a second fugitive Michael Warren Bell, who was also wanted out of Wyoming County was arrested for several drug delivery and drug-related charges.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department offered its thanks to the U.S. Marshals C.U.F.F.E.D Task Force, the WV Division of Parole, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Virginia State Police in their combined efforts to arrest these two fugitives.
The C.U.F.F.E.D Task Force is comprised of several Southern WV law enforcement agencies including the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and with this partnership, they are able to network with other agencies sharing information about wanted persons.
It allows the WCSO to travel abroad to further pursue any and all of Wyoming County’s wanted fugitives who may have left Wyoming County in attempts to flee from justice.
