WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – The U.S. Department of Education has begun eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the agency, including removing references from public communications and placing employees involved in DEI efforts on administrative leave.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Education, the move follows President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders aimed at ending what the administration calls “illegal discrimination and wasteful spending” in the federal government.
The department has archived or removed hundreds of DEI-related documents, reports, and training materials from its website and other public platforms.
It has also dissolved two key internal councils: the Diversity & Inclusion Counciland the Employee Engagement Diversity Equity Inclusion Accessibility Council (EEDIAC) within the Office for Civil Rights.
Both were disbanded immediately under Trump’s executive order, “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing.”
Other actions taken by the department include:
- Canceling DEI training and service contracts totaling more than $2.6 million.
- Withdrawing the department’s Equity Action Plan.
- Placing DEI-focused career staff on paid administrative leave.
- Identifying over 200 DEI-related web pages for removal.
The department will continue reviewing programs and materials to eliminate what it describes as “divisive DEI agenda” initiatives.
Officials say this includes scrutinizing language used in public communications to prevent the use of coded or vague terms that support DEI-related activities.
This latest move aligns with President Trump’s broader effort to reshape federal agencies by eliminating diversity-focused programs.
The Department of Education stated it aims to focus on “meaningful learning” rather than what it calls divisive ideological programs in schools.
