PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A bold and expansive new mural was unveiled this week in the Grassroots District of the City of Princeton.
The striking piece, designed by local artist Leslie Caneda in collaboration with a local organization, can be seen on the side of the building housing the Salvation Army. The artwork serves as a visual celebration of the heritage, community spirit, and scenic views representative of the city.
The idea behind the mural was to honor the past of the city while celebrating the future.
Local artist and co-creator of the piece of art, Leslie Caneda, expressed a sense of excitement regarding the mural’s unveiling and a hope that the piece could serve as source of joy and wonder for both present and future generations of Mercer County residents.
“I wanted the design to be classic and nostalgic while having a modern feel to it,” Caneda explained. “We can’t be more pleased with this giant piece of art, and hope generations of locals and visitors will enjoy this piece and the city of Princeton for many years to come.”
It is the hope of those behind the execution of the mural that it may not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of Princeton’s historic Grassroots District, but also reinforce the area as a creative and cultural hub for the city as it begins to gain recognition from residents and visitors alike as a key destination and thriving area for local businesses.
Work on the mural is currently ongoing, and the finishing touches are expected to be completed by the end of the week. Community members and visitors have been encouraged to make their way to the city’s Grassroots District to get a firsthand look at the latest addition to Mercer Street.
