SAINT ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has announced multiple charges against 48-year-old Kevin W. Webster of Saint Albans after he allegedly passed a stopped school bus and nearly struck a child.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Friday, March 14, when Webster, driving a white Lincoln sedan, illegally passed a school bus that had stopped to let children off.
Following an overwhelming response from the community, Sergeant S.M. Adams led an investigation confirming Webster as the driver.
Webster was arrested on Saturday, March 15, by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office while operating the same vehicle.
Reports from the Saint Albans Police Department also linked Webster to other driving offenses in separate incidents.
Investigators obtained video surveillance showing Webster pulling into a 7-Eleven on Coal River Road shortly before the school bus incident.
While interviewing Webster at Western Regional Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges, authorities obtained additional evidence that led to an extra charge of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) as a habitual drug user.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office thanked the community for its support in the investigation and commended Sergeant Adams for her swift work in securing charges.
Officials used the case to issue a warning to drivers about the dangers of disregarding school bus laws.
They emphasized the importance of obeying bus warning lights, respecting school zones, and understanding the severe consequences of violations, which may include fines, vehicle impoundment, arrest, and jail time.
Investigators are seeking further evidence from residents near Coal River Road, James Street, or Strawberry Road who may have video footage from March 14 between 3:40 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
