CABELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia Man is facing charges after he had over 2,500 images of child sexual abuse material.
On July 31, 2024, a CyberTip investigation involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM) led authorities to suspect Jonathan Bowen of Lesage, West Virginia, of involvement in a group chat where illegal content was shared. The CyberTip, originating from a report by MedialLab/Kik between June 18 and June 20, 2024, revealed that a user with the screen name “kitty_guy96” uploaded and downloaded multiple files containing child sexual abuse material. The report provided an IP address linked to Bowen’s residence through Frontier Communications.
Upon viewing the files, officers confirmed that they contained CSAM. Search warrants were issued for both the Kik account and the associated email address, “carguycalOOO@gmail.com,” which further linked Bowen to the activity. Investigators discovered over 2,500 images of illegal content shared from the account, as well as personal photographs of Bowen.
The investigation is ongoing, and Bowen is expected to face charges related to the possession and distribution of CSAM.
